Research Internship: Systems Change Education – Transformations Community – Remote Part Time

We are seeking a highly motivated person to manage and support The Transformations Community research projects. We are a global community of 1600+ researchers and reflective practitioners who are working toward transformations to equitable, sustainable and regenerative futures. Over the past decade, our community has convened international conferences in Oslo, Stockholm, Dundee, and Santiago. 600+ attended our latest gathering in June 2021. We also host workshops and create resources for systems change teachers, researchers, and professionals, including our new global catalog of systems change education programs.

Your Profile – Essential Experience

• Excellent conceptualizing and simplifying skills. Can parse complex information sources and concepts into simplified synthesis, capturing the essence of ideas and inputs.
• Understanding of ‘systems change’ programs & curricula.
• Fluent English essential: excellent copy skills.
• Excellent project management skills. Deliver to a deadline, communicate instantly if an unexpected roadblock appears that might delay work. Utterly resourceful and self-directed. Make suggestions wherever you see opportunity. Work fast and smart.
• Thrive in entrepreneurial collaborative team projects. Service-oriented and ethical. Work remotely and manage your own and other’s workload and lead a team across distance.
• You must have a passion for administrative details and processes, and strong interpersonal skills to work with far-flung community members and our many organizational partners.
• Demonstrated interest in communities, system change, sustainability & regeneration. Academic and/or work experience related to the field of research.

Desirable – Extra points for:

• Expertise with data analysis and digital tools. Superior skills with analytical tools e.g. surveys, excel, statistics, AI.
• Fluency in additional languages.
• Graphic design & artistic presentation skills.

About the role

You will work directly with our operations weaver and under the overall direction of the community of practice lead.

Research

• Research is focused on review of systems education programs/courses, focusing on a comparison of learning objectives. We have developed this catalog of 110+ courses: https://www.transformationscommunity.org/catalogue
• Key questions:
• What are the trends, taxonomies, commonalities and gaps in system change education syllabuses?
• What is the impact & evidence for the success of these programs?
• Perform literature reviews & market research.
• Prepare progress reports.
• Input into alternative methods of research. dissemination eg infographics, blog & vlog, insights library/wiki etc.
• Respond to emails relating to research and attend project meetings.

Community & Communications Operations

Are you a multi-talented entrepreneurial organiser? Besides the core research role described above, the organisation also needs support in these areas:

• Community engagement
• Communications & content management
• Social media management
• Building & managing digital community platforms
• Event management & logistics
• Operations management
• Fundraising
• Business & Organizational Design

Hours & Benefits: What’s in it for you?

• This position is part or full time, minimum 24 hours a week. Project duration: 1-6 months, with potential for ongoing work thereafter. Work hours are flexible, and work can be conducted from wherever you like.
• Team members are currently based in USA, Netherlands and Canada. We meet virtually weekly to review progress and share feedback, with more frequent 1:1 meetings.
• Compensation will be $500 a month full time, or prorated accordingly.
