PT Online Public Speaking Teacher – Writing Symphony – Remote Part Time

Writing Symphony is seeking quality Public Speaking instructors for students in grades 3-12. You’ll have the flexibility to work from home while making a meaningful impact on the lives of students throughout the United States as well as many countries around the world.

Our ideal candidate:

• understands the difference between “telling” and “sharing” and the importance of this difference;
• is interested in connecting with students;
• is willing to share personal experiences as examples;
• takes real-time notes as students speak to demonstrate how to outline a speech;
• understands that learning is a process;
• is comfortable leading discussions; and
• is non-judgmental about student content and focused on helping the student speak to be understood.

You will help students adopt a systematic public speaking methodology that builds over time with a well-defined curriculum. We provide our instructors with comprehensive training, easy-to-follow lesson plans and the unique opportunity to grow with an innovative, global education company.

We offer flexible scheduling and will do our best to accommodate other commitments. Our hourly rates are competitive and commensurate with experience. Teaching hours will be based on student enrollment.

Responsibilities:

• Instruct small groups of students in an online, virtual classroom

• Maintain an engaging classroom atmosphere

• Track and communicate student progress with regular in-class comments and feedback

• Attend monthly online staff meetings for updates and training

• Adhere to the established teaching curriculum

Qualifications:

• Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher, a degree in English or Education a plus

• At least 1 year of teaching experience, online teaching experience is a plus
• At least 1 year of teaching public speaking

• Teaching credential from at least one U.S. state required (may be expired; TESOL is a bonus, but does not meet this requirement)

• Proficient in technology, especially virtual classrooms

• Ability to build rapport with students and manage classroom behavior

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population, including English Language Learners. (ELL, ESL or Bi-lingual education endorsements/certifications a plus)

• Must be able to work during evening time or morning time on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
• Looking for availability for a minimum of 5 hours a week.

• Must pass background check’
