Program Developer, Master of Couples and Family Therapy – Yorkville University – Remote Part Time

Who we need

We have a part-time contract opportunity for a practitioner-scholar in Marriage Counselling and Family Therapy (MCFT) to join us as a Program Developer. You will be part of defining and shaping the direction of a new program in a meaningful, impactful way.

Reporting directly to the Dean, Behavioural Sciences, you will collaborate with faculty, Associate Deans, Program Directors, the Vice President Student Recruitment, Vice President Government and Regulatory Affairs, and the Associate Vice President Production and Development. You will be part of a remote team of four working with academic and administrative staff to develop and implement the proposed Master of Couples and Family Therapy (MCFT) program for submission to New Brunswick’s Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour (PETL). You will ensure the proposal follows the requirements of the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission (MPHEC) as set out in the Policy on Assessment of Programs submitted under the New Brunswick Degree Granting Act.

Each role is for 0.25 FTE for six months with the possibility of extension.

What you will do:

• Provide leadership and direction for the development of the proposed MCFT. You will manage all aspects of the MCFT proposal process from inception and design to execution and evaluation, including:
  • Leading the proposal process in transparent, productive, and responsible ways that promote quality and efficiency.
  • Applying standard project management practices.
  • Overseeing project objectives and managing scope.
  • Ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Identifying and fulfilling success criteria.
  • Tracking milestones for regulatory and quality assurance and auditing.
  • Leading communications meetings.
• Create a successful program proposal and plan. You will embrace our values and approach your work through a diversity, equity and inclusion lens. You will conduct new and apply previous research to build an MCFT program proposal within the required timeline. You will develop program review tools and collaborate with the department to implement evaluation and program monitoring practices to continuously refine the program to reflect participant feedback and emerging research and approaches.
• Build partnerships. You will collaborate as part of a cohort of four program developers to set and achieve goals for a successful program development proposal. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and subject matter experts acting as a consultant, advisor, and facilitator.

What you bring:

• The academic and practitioner background. You have a Doctorate in couples or marriage and family therapy. Or, you have a relevant doctoral degree and a combination of academic and senior program management experience. You have 10+ years as an MFT, preferably in Canada and 5+ years in program development and administration, preferably within a university environment.
• The knowledge. You have familiarity with:
  • The Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT) and provincial MFT associations.
  • The Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) accreditation policy, procedures, and process.
  • Competencies, standards of practice, the scope of services, and registry/licensure requirements of the six provincial regulatory bodies of counselling and psychotherapy.
• The insights. You understand the complexity of the academic environment and its policies and procedures. You have a demonstrated ability to launch new programs and develop external partnerships. You are a thought leader, scholar, and provider who appreciates and understands the demand for a distinct MCFT identity in Canada and the changing competitive landscape of higher education in Canada.
• The project management. You have worked with senior leadership and external professionals to align project goals, requirements, and expectations. You can define project teams, plans, and communications. You have a successful track record of meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments with competing priorities.
• The interpersonal skills. You can build trusting and collaborative relationships within and across teams at every level, working confidently with executive stakeholders in business, academics, and government bodies. You have exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to perform effectively in a team-based collegial culture with Deans, senior academic administrators, faculty, and administrative staff.
