REMOTE POSITION

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Marketing & Social Media Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Classification: Part-time Employee, 30 hours per month

Position Summary: The Marketing & Social Media Coordinator is responsible for the organization’s development and implementation of communication and marketing strategies across social media and the newsletter. They will work collaboratively with the Executive Director and web designer/host to carry out the following duties. These responsibilities can be accomplished remotely.

Major Responsibilities/Duties:

Communications & Marketing for Social Justice and Children’s Literature

  • Create and disseminate a monthly newsletter and weekly social media posts for teachers, librarians, parents and other social justice advocates
  • Create and disseminate regular social media posts across Jane Addams Peace Association platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn (including co-overseeing interns to create values-aligned social media posts)
  • Increase our online presence and engagement about social justice and children’s literature, particularly the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award program
  • Support fundraising on social media and in the newsletter
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice
  • Experience in a non-profit setting or equivalent combination
  • Excellent writing skills – ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Experience using various online social media platforms, including but not limited to websites,

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, and familiarity with social media analytics and data

  • Ability to brainstorm and develop ideas for fundraising campaigns
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Attention to detail and ability to organize and set priorities
  • Prefer experience with diverse communities
  • Second language capacity is highly desirable
  • Prefer experience with Google Suite, WordPress, Mailchimp, and Canva

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
