Instructional Designer (Volunteer)
Job Description
LifeBridge is looking for driven and innovative Instructional Designers to help create self-paced life skills courses and or videos for youth and adults. This is a new role that will allow you to impact the success of young people throughout the world. You’ll be able to work with seasoned Instructional Designers and team leaders.
This role is completely remote.
We are looking to recruit passionate people who would like to have hands-on experience building a youth learning library. This is an excellent chance to build a variety of skills or share existing skills. Your work and voice will have a deep impact on the future of LifeBridge.
About Us
Lifebridge is a ministry of New Birth Outreach church dedicated to mobilizing, organizing, and equipping our congregation to help solve our community’s foster care crisis.
On any given day more than 500,000 youth are in Foster Care. Foster youth who are aging out of the foster care system have higher rates of being undereducated, underemployed, and becoming homeless. Nearly 50% of former foster youth end up homeless and that less than 8% attend college. These young people often find themselves instantly on their own with no housing or support from family or community. Without mentoring and motivation, often former foster youth find themselves homeless, pregnant, on drugs, or in jail.
In addition, many youth and young adults who grow up in traditional families learn various subjects from school but lack the skills needed to navigate the realities of life.
LifeBridge is developing a life skills library called My LifeBridge Academy to help teens and young adults, those in the foster system and those in traditional homes, learn the skills needed to successfully navigate life.

What You’ll Do:
- Design, develop, implement, and manage instructional content, courses, and projects within our online learning management system.
- Utilize Instructional Design methodology to design and develop curriculum and eLearning modules.
- Provide support for all online learning management system instructional initiatives to improve learner performance.
- Assist with ongoing curriculum evaluation to monitor and analyze for effectiveness and update material as needed.
- Grow and collaborate with team members.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to ask appropriate questions and probe for understanding and work in collaboration with others to achieve desired results.
- Ability to communicate through verbal and written means with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles.
- Proficient knowledge of recognized desktop publishing applications and the ability to use Microsoft Office applications,
- Ability to produce learning materials.
- Knowledgeable and functional in technical writing, including consistent and correct use of tense, grammar/spelling, and terminology that is interesting and varied.
- Strong proofreading skills to produce error-free documents.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent project management, organization skills, ability to work independently and time management skills; ability to be flexible and solve problems.
- Ability to deal effectively with obstacles to progress in order to maintain project momentum.
Work Experience and/or Education:
- Certificate or degree in Instructional Design or Educational Technology preferred.
