Full Job Description
Job Overview: Grant Writers strive to receive funding from different organizations and individuals by researching, drafting, and submitting proposals. They are responsible for discovering grant opportunities and building and maintaining relationships with funders, donors, and others within the community.
Job Duties / Responsibilities: May include, but not limited to the following:
- Research and identify grants that match the objectives of the organization
- Develop proposals for matching grants
- Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
- Oversee preparation of grant proposals, conduct a final review of proposals, and ensure timely submission
- Maintain accurate record of past and present grant opportunities, deadlines, and proposals
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and donors
- Respond to funder questions
- Detail impact of a grant
- Assists with preparation of grant reports
- Ensures the grant projects comply with all legal or regulatory requirements
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communication, or a related field. Candidates who have a grant writing certification are preferred.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in grant writing, prospect research, general fundraising or a minimum of 2 years comparable and transferable skills acquired in a professional setting
