As a Dissertation Editor for American College of Education, you provide support and service to doctoral candidates during the dissertation process. You provide editing support and guidance to candidates throughout the entire dissertation development and completion.

Day to Day Responsibilities

In this part-time role, you will wear different hats, but your skills will be especially essential in the following areas:

• Serves on doctoral candidates’ dissertation committees as an editor.
• Edits candidate dissertation drafts and provides substantive feedback and guidance.
• Stays current on college policies and procedures related to doctoral programs and the dissertation process as outlined in the Dissertation Committee Handbook.
• Maintains timely and consistent communication with doctoral candidates and college staff, faculty, and administrators within the allowed ACE systems.
• Maintains a collaborative professional relationship with the dissertation chair, committee member, and the candidates’ teacher of record.
• Provides stability and support to doctoral candidates through a multi-year commitment to the candidates assigned to you.
• Attends virtual meetings and completes required trainings and ongoing professional development.
• Monitors the dissertation workspace on a weekly basis for each assigned candidate.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Degree in English or related field, master’s degree or higher preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of APA format and scholarly writing.
• Capable of editing sophisticated educational research documents.
• Proven teaching experience in writing or providing writing support, remote experience preferred.
• Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite applications proficiently.
• Ability to use or learn how to use appropriate technology, including video conferencing and online learning management systems.
• Understands and practices appropriate relationships with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators.
• Strong professional dispositions and commitment to serving students throughout a multi-year dissertation course sequence.
