Full Job Description
Our Company
Code Platoon is a non-profit coding bootcamp that prepares US military Veterans and military spouses for software development careers. We’ve served 250+ students over 20 cohorts since 2016 with a strong 80%+ job placement rate due to our small student-to-teacher ratio, industry volunteers, and excellent instruction. We teach fullstack web development with Python on the backend and Javascript on the frontend. We plan to expand our offerings beyond software engineering into DevOps and launch a new program in early 2023.
Role Description
We are looking for a talented engineer with experience in DevOps to create curriculum. You will work alongside other curriculum developers and our education team to create daily lecture materials, useful handouts, and meaningful projects to ensure that each student who is admitted will be well-prepared for the DevOps world. This is a contract position with clear deliverables by certain dates. You will be paid an hourly rate commensurate with your experience.

Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional work experience as a software engineer OR 2+ years of professional work experience as a DevOps engineer
- A strong understanding of our the following technologies:
- Linux and the command line
- Containerization (i.e., Docker)
- Container Orchestration (i.e., Kubernetes and Amazon EKS)
- Infrastructure as a Service (i.e., Amazon Web Services)
- Infrastructure as Code (i.e., Terraform)
- Continuous Integration & Deployment (i.e., Jenkins or Github Actions)
- Configuration Management (i.e., Ansible or Chef)
- Monitoring applications (i.e., Datadog or Prometheus)
- Experience as a teacher or mentor in a technical setting (e.g., bootcamp instructor, college TA in a CS class, tech tutorial video maker, etc.)
- Stellar written and oral communication skills
- Formal training as an educator is a plus
