POSITION: Commercial Architecture Design Specialist
COMPANY: Sherer & Associates
LOCATION: Remote
Sherer & Associates is looking to add an experienced Commercial Architecture Design Specialist to our team. Working alongside our principal architect, design, and drafting teams, you will research and determine the requirements and feasibility of projects we design. The ideal candidate should be tech-savvy, able to communicate through multiple channels, and extremely organized.
Role + Responsibilities:
- Work with the pre-design team to quickly pull together plans, surveys, and other materials required for research.
- Provide code analysis
- Complete code review tables with applicable code information.
- Consult with the team as necessary to assess options to bring any unresolved items into compliance.
- Complete Building Department Checklist
- Confirm current codes have been adopted, permit application requirements, and checklists
- The scope of code review will include a review of architectural components only.
- Structural loads, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems review is not included in the role, except for those items that are addressed in the International Building Code (is a fire alarm or sprinkler system required?, plumbing fixture counts…)
- Markup Code review sheet on Construction documents
- Preliminary site plan
- Complete preliminary building design sketches
- Review and markup drawings produced by production team
- Conduct peer reviews of drawings at each project phase
- Prepare materials for inclusion in Base Camp™ Feasibility Analysis powerpoint presentation
- Design and Production Team Meetings
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience as an Architect or CAD draftsman specializing in Commercial design
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with code review
- Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc)
- Experience with Dropbox
- Knowledgeable in technology to communicate via computer, smartphone, or text
- Highly organized and able to multitask and work well with fast-paced directions and instructions
- Able to manage time effectively and efficiently
- Able to organize and manage large amounts of information
- Self-directed and able to work without supervision
